DIY LOVE and Heart Pillows

Have you ever tried to customize your own pillows? It could seem quite an undertaking! But, not necessarily. Some days ago I had this idea and I decided to follow two simple techniques: the use of fabric paint and of the sequin trim (or whatever you like, like the trimming). And, seeing that we are in the Valentine period, this DIY hooks up the colors and the shapes of love. You could even give them as a present, what do you think?

  • Two cushion covers;
  • Stencil paper;
  • Fabric paint;
  • Sponge;
  • Fabric glue;
  • Sequin trim.

How-to create the LOVE pillow:

  1. The first step is to print the LOVE words (mine is 25cm large). Cut out the pattern and put the stencil paper on it. Now, you’ll have to cut out with the cutter along the edges of the letters;
  2. Important! If your image is too big, you’ll probably have to provide some bridges (these are narrow parts of material that are not cut out) that help you to hold the stencil better and keep the paint from seeping under the stencil;
  3. Start dabbing with a sponge. Try to avoid loading the sponge and stroking motion;
  4. When finished, paint with the brush in the blanks of the bridges and try to refine the edges;
  5. Let it dry for some hours (remember to check the time on the fabric bottle) and iron at high temperature to secure the color by placing a cloth/paper between the iron and the fabric.

How-to create the Heart pillow:

  1. Print the shape of the heart, cut out the pattern and secure it with pins. Trace the outline with a fabric pen;
  2. Start adding glue and lay the sequin trim over the glue;
  3. Once finished, cut the trim with scissors and stitch the sections where you have cut the trim.

You’re finished! You only need a romantic DVD and some chocolate and you’re done! Your pillows are ready! Enjoy!

Avete mai provato a personalizzare delle fodere per cuscini? Detta così sembra un po’ un’impresa complicata. Invece, è qualcosa di estremamente semplice. Qualche giorno fa mi è venuta questa idea ed ho deciso di optare per due tecniche facilissime! La prima riguarda l’utilizzo di colore per tessuti, la seconda l’applicazione del nastro di paillette (o qualsiasi altro materiale come ad esempio la passamaneria). E visto che siamo in tema S. Valentino, il DIY di oggi prende le forme e i colori dell’amour. Potrebbe essere un’idea da regalare! Che ne dite?

Occorrente:

  • Due fodere per cuscini;
  • Lucido per stencil;
  • Colore per tessuti;
  • Tampone/spugna per stencil;
  • Taglierino;
  • Colla per tessuti;
  • Nastro di paillette.

Primo cuscino LOVE:

  1. Dopo aver stampato su carta la scritta LOVE (la mia è di 25 cm), tagliate il disegno e posizionatelo sotto il lucido da stencil. Iniziate a tagliare con il taglierino lungo i bordi della scritta;
  2. Importante! Se la scritta è abbastanza grande, è necessario costruite dei ponti. Ciò significa lasciare degli spazi non tagliati che garantiranno più stabilità allo stencil quando andremo a tamponare con il colore;
  3. Iniziate a tamponare con la spugnetta. Cercate di avere pazienza: imbevete poco la spugnetta e fate attenzione a non trascinarla;
  4. Una volta terminato, dipingete con il pennellino gli spazi vuoti dei ponti e correggete eventuali errori o bordi non troppo perfetti;
  5. Lasciate asciugare per qualche ora (controllate i tempi sulla bottiglietta del colore) e stirate ad alta temperatura ponendo un panno/carta velina tra il ferro e la stoffa.

Secondo cuscino con disegno cuore:

  1. Stampate su carta la forma di un cuore, tagliatela e fissatela al cuscino con degli spilli. Tracciate il bordo con un pennarello per stoffa;
  2. Con la colla per tessuti, iniziate ad incollare il nastro di paillette facendo più giri;
  3. Una volta terminato, tagliate il nastro e fermate i punti più delicati con ago e filo.

Anche questo è fatto! Armatevi di DVD e cioccolatini, i cuscini per S.Valentino sono già pronti!

Avez-vous cherché à personnaliser vos coussins? Il pourrait sembler une entreprise. Mais, pas nécessairement ! Il y a quelques jours j’ai eu cette idée et, donc, j’ai décidé de suivre deux techniques simples pour personnaliser deux coussins : l’utilisation de la peinture à tissu et de la garniture de paillettes (ou ce que vous préférez, comme la passementerie). Et, vu qu’on est dans la période de la Saint-Valentine, j’ai pensée de donner au DIY d’aujourd’hui les couleurs et les formes de l’amour. Il pourrait être une idée sympa pour les donner comme cadeaux. Qu’est-ce vous en pensez ?

Vous aurez besoin de :

  • Deux housses de coussin ;
  • Papier stencil ;
  • Couleur pour tissu ;
  • Éponge ;
  • Colle pour tissu ;
  • Garniture de paillettes.

Pour créer le coussin Love :

  1. La première étape est celle d’imprimer les mots LOVE (le mien est grand 25cm). Puis, coupez-le et mettez-le sous le papier stencil. Maintenant, coupez avec le cutter les bords des mots ;
  2. Important ! Si votre image est trop grande, vous aurez besoin de créer des ponts (ce sont des parties étroites qui ne sont pas coupées) qui vous aident à tenir le stencil et à éviter que la couleur s’infiltre sous le stencil ;
  3. Commencez à tamponner avec une éponge. Essayez d’éviter de charger l’éponge et de frotter le mouvement ;
  4. Lorsque vous avez terminé, peignez avec le pinceau dans les ébauches des ponts et cherché à affiner les bords ;
  5. Laissez-le sécher pendant quelques heures (n’oubliez pas de vérifier le temps sur la bouteille de la couleur) et repassez à haute température pour fixer la couleur en plaçant un tissu/papier entre le fer et le tissu ;

Pour créer le coussin avec le cœur :

  1. Imprimez la forme du cœur, coupez-la et fixez-la avec les épingles. Tracez le contour avec un crayon pour tissu ;
  2. Commencez à ajouter de la colle et positionnez les paillettes sur la colle ;
  3. Une fois terminé, coupez la garniture avec des ciseaux et coudrez les sections où vous avec coupé la garniture.

Vous avez terminé ! Vous avez besoin d’un DVD et d’un peu de chocolat, vos deux housses de coussin sont prêts à être utilisé !

    I’d definitely try the fabric paint technique, but for the other one… I don’t have enough patience. But it looks so adorable!! Maybe I should try it to see how long I’d hold up.:)
